Our Creations

Although we have some set designs, we regularly create pieces of furniture which are truly unique, and if looked after, will be enjoyed by many generations. Our speculative creations are available to buy in our studio in Blainslie and in chosen galleries.

Should you have your own ideas about what you would like to commission, we are happy to work closely with you. From elegant dining chairs to four-poster beds, we produce all interior furnishings. Visit our commissioning page to find out more about how to acquire a piece.

Seating

Sail Chair

Sail Chair
Our Sail Chair. The Sycamore mast contrasts with the Elm Sails. Can be made in Oak also.

Elm Sofa with roped seat

Elm Sofa with roped seat
Our wooden sofas can be made in Two or Three seat versions. The unique roping system mitigates the rigidity of the wood allowing the comfort expected from a conventional sofa once appropriate cushions are chosen.

Regal Chair

The Regal chair takes its name from the abstract suggestion of a crown in its back. The spires create a contrasting link between 2 pieces of burr elm.

Skeletal Chair

This chair gets its name from the curved back which is like a spine with ribs.

Strata Chair

Strata Chair
The design for this chair involves setting different types of wood into two routed channels on the inside of the masts. The different textures and colours are reminiscent of a geological core sample.

Corset Chair

The back of this chair, the ’Corset‘ – has insets in mixed hardwoods.

Bonnet Chair

The back of this chair is elegant yet comfortable, the little ‘cap’ on top is reflected in its name.

Gnasher Chair

This chair was designed in the early 80’s, at a time when Tim Stead’s children Sam and Emma were reading the children’s magazine ‘The Beano’- Gnasher is the name of the scruffy dog with the fierce jaw!

Porter Chair

Porter Chair
Designed by Tim Stead for the Station café in Melrose in the 80’s. The chair handles are like the handles of the old fashioned railway trolleys.

A single piece of rugged wood creates the back for this classic dining chair.

The Wood Neuk produces dining chairs in many different forms. Each unique design can be replicated with a Carver or Armchair. We also make sofas and benches.

Tables

Dining and coffee tables can be made from a single piece of wood or in a planked form. The single pieces can be over a hundred years old.

Storage

Cupboards, Dressers, Chests of drawers and bookshelves are just some of the storage pieces we do. Storage gives us the chance to show off our special wooden hinges where appropriate.
